This year, Valentine’s Day movies will not sit and wait quietly. Even though it’s technically Christmas movie season, Valentine’s Day has arrived in full force. And this year, it’s Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson leading the pack with Marry Me. Though Loki’s Mobius may not have gotten to ride a jet-ski, Owen Wilson’s next character Charlie Gilbert looks like he’s about to have his dreams come true.
The official trailer description shares:
Packed with original songs by Jennifer Lopez and global Latin music star Maluma, Marry Me arrives next Valentine’s Day with Lopez starring as musical superstar Kat Valdez and Owen Wilson as Charlie Gilbert, a math teacher—total strangers who agree to marry and then get to know each other. An unlikely romance about two different people searching for something real in a world where value is based on likes and followers, Marry Me is a modern love story about celebrity, marriage, and social media.
J.Lo’s character, Kat Valdez, thinks she knows the direction of her life. She will marry her fiancé and music-partner Bastian in front of a sold-out audience. But minutes before they take the stage, Kat finds out Bastian has cheated on her. So instead, she looks out into the crowd and elects to web Charlie Gilbert, played by Owen Wilson. Could it be love at first sight?
Of course, it could. It’s Valentine’s Day.
As Kat and Charlie fall in love, “forces conspire to separate them,” but will they make it? Sometimes, the best answer equals out to the one you want to hear. We can’t wait to take this heart-warming, if likely-cliched, adventure with Owen Wilson and Jennifer Lopez in Marry Me. In the meanwhile, we’ll definitely download this song from the movie.
And honestly, we have to give a round of applause for Owen Wilson, who doesn’t even vaguely resemble Mobius in this trailer. Acting, if you like. We’ll see you in the theaters.
