One of the coolest parts of the second Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer was just how much Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus we got. He looks like he stepped right out of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2. (Partially because they digitally made him look just as he did in 2004). Hearing his distinctive voice say the words “Peter Parker” again brought on all the nostalgic feelings. Someone also thrilled to see Doctor Octopus again was sculptor and YouTube artist Steven Richter. Thanks to the folks at Geeks Are Sexy, we’ve come across a new video of Richter’s latest “One Day Sculpt,” a tribute to Doc Ock. You can watch the full 90-second time-lapse video right here:
This isn’t the only Doc Ock video from Richter lately. Not too long ago, he also created a replica of Otto Octavius’ claw machine tentacle. Because what’s Otto without his devious, mechanical A.I. arms? Without them, he’s just a guy with a silly name. Richter has two different versions of his Doc Ock Animatronic arm project videos. One that is brief, and another that goes into more detail on the arm’s creation.
But this bust for Doc Ock is far from the only Marvel Universe head sculpt from Richter in the last year. His intricately detailed busts for Marvel movie characters like Loki, the Hulk, Vision, Black Widow, Venom, and Deadpool are sights to behold. Two excellent Captain America head sculpts stand out as the best of his work. One is of Steve Rogers as we know and love him in the Avengers films. And the other is zombie Captain America from the Disney+ animated What If…? series. And we will always love Steven Richter’s Thanos bust, which he dusted, Avengers: Endgame style, in an amazing time-lapse video.
