All Netflix Marvel Shows Moving to Disney+ This Month

Disney+ is already the streaming home of the Avengers. But soon it will also be where you can find the Defenders. The Mouse House has announced all former Marvel Netflix shows, as well as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, will make the digital switch to join Earth’s mightiest heroes this month. And the new additions means updates to Disney+’s parental controls.

Starting March 16 every Marvel Netflix show will fall under the Disney+ banner. The company announced today its streaming site will soon be the new home of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher. ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which ran for seven seasons from 2013 to 2020, will also get added to Disney+ that day.

This wholesale move is no surprise. It was just a matter of when all the previous streaming rights deals ran out. This hurts Disney+’s biggest competitor while also putting more MCU content on Disney+. The switch might also portend a new future for the shows. While the Netflix shows connected with the MCU previously, the film side tended to ignore them. But, as the MCU gets deeper into the multiverse, those series could prove more important than ever. Daredevil‘s Matt Murdock (played by Charlie Cox) and Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) have already made their MCU debuts. Other fan-favorite Defenders, as well as Iron Fist, could soon be on their way, too.

Considering The Punisher is coming to Disney+, it’s no surprise the site also announced it’s updating its parental controls. Starting “on or after March 16,” all US subscribers will receive a prompt to update their Parental Controls when they log on to the site. That prompt will include the option to select content ratings restrictions for every profile on the account. You’ll be able to chose a content setting of TV-MA rather than TV-14. For those who want to see all available content, make sure to update your profile too. In a press release Disney said “those that choose to keep their settings the same will continue to enjoy Disney+ as they always have within a TV-14 content rating environment.”

Users will also be able to add a PIN to each profile. That way smart children won’t be able to easily change their parents’ settings. And the updated options will also include the ability to turn on a “Kids Profile,” which Disney says “only features content suitable for all viewers.” And thanks to “Kid-Proof Exit” questions, youngsters won’t be able to easily switch to another profile. Disney says “account holders will need to verify their password to turn this feature on or off under Profile settings.”

The Avengers tend to be age appropriate. But part of what made the Defenders fun was that they weren’t. And it’s good to know that’ll be true no matter which streaming site they call home.
