Six seasons and a movie. That’s the dream of any show that airs on our screens. But unfortunately, most don’t survive that long. Fortunately, though, in this day and age, many shows get a second lease on life and manage to return in some form. Netflix canceled its series Warrior Nun after two seasons. But thanks to the efforts of its fans, Warrior Nun has been saved. And even though it won’t get six seasons, Warrior Nun will get its very own trilogy of movies to round out its story. And that’s truly dream-making. Let’s take a look at what we know.
Executive Producer Dean English shared the good news with fans in a video posted to the aptly named website warriornunsaved.com. Firstly, English thanked the series’ loyal fans. He noted, “I am very happy to announce that Warrior Nun is coming back as a trilogy of motion pictures. Once again, a trilogy of feature films. Three.” Cue warring nuns everywhere celebrating. We love to see it. We really do.
However, Warrior Nun may return in more ways than just one. Announcing that Warrior Nun has been saved was just the beginning. English shared that a whole Warrior Nun cinematic universe might wait in the wings. He offered, “Some may ask, ‘Does this perhaps infer that there’s going to be a universe being launched of Warrior Nun, which could expand into films and TV series following characters that we already know?’ The answer to that question is yes. And there will be more details in the future.” We’ll just have to stay tuned.
It may take a while for the new movies to become a reality. And due to the studios’ still refusing to pay and safeguard their creators, no actor or writer participation can currently be confirmed. But now that fans know they’ve saved the series, they should have no trouble waiting. For now, we don’t have many more details about the future of Warrior Nun, save that there is a future. It does not sound like Netflix will not have involvement in the future trilogy of movies. And where the Warrior Nun movies will release remains unclear for now.
As a reminder for those just discovering the saved show, Warrior Nun‘s official synopsis shares:
After waking up in a morgue, an orphaned teen discovers she now possesses superpowers as the chosen Halo-Bearer for a secret sect of demon-hunting nuns. Watch all you want. Alba Baptista stars in this action-packed tale of good vs. evil based on the comic book series created by Ben Dunn.”
While they wait for more news, fans can revisit the series’ first two seasons on Netflix. In fact, they should make a habit out of it. And let us conclude by saying, congratulations to all the fans out there. You did it!
