Jurassic Park came out 30 years ago, but it remains a perfect, timeless blockbuster. That’s why we hope no one ever does something silly like try and remake it. At least not with humans. We’re totally on board with LEGO’s upcoming take on the legendary dino story. The trailer for Peacock‘s newly announced LEGO Jurassic Park: The Unofficial Retelling is everything we’d want from a comedic version of this famous tale. Especially because it combines prehistoric monsters with the terror of stepping on a little plastic bricks.
Now that’s how you make a horror-action-thriller into a fun romp. You still let the T.Rex eat the lawyer; you just let him build his bathroom tomb first. Also, the framing of this “unofficial retelling” by one of Jurassic Park‘s best characters is a genius way to revisit what happened on Isla Nubar. Here’s LEGO Jurassic Park: The Unofficial Retelling official synopsis from Peacock:
From the comfort of his living room and after finding his personal journal, the ever charming and now slightly older Chaos Theory Mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm retells the tale of what happened that dreadful night at Jurassic Park. As only he can do, Dr. Malcolm finds a way to add his own unique humor and style to bring this harrowing story back to life. A theme park destination filled with living dinosaurs for family and kids to enjoy – what could possibly go wrong? Absolutely everything…just as he had predicted!
Well, uh, there….there he is….old LEGO Dr. Ian Malcolm. We love him already.
LEGO Jurassic Park: The Unofficial Retelling Release Date and Other Information
LEGO Jurassic Park: The Unofficial Retelling releases on Peacock on October 10. And happily, that’s just around the corner.
The only downside to the special’s announcement is its runtime. The short film is just 22 minutes long. We’d gladly take a full recreation of Steven Spielberg’s movie in LEGO form… At least we would, so long as no human actors appeared on screen.
We’re more than okay with this LEGO Jurassic Park “remake,” but only with this one.
