Reader, I have some complex feelings about Oh, the Places You’ll Go. It is an inspirational book that I first read as a kid and later read to my own children when they were little. The words are a powerful motivation to go forth towards great endeavors and to meet challenges with bravery and wit. Bang ups and hang-ups do indeed happen to us all. On the other hand, Dr. Seuss’ other materials do include racial stereotypes and other unsavory elements that give me the ick. Still, I can appreciate this particular story for exactly what it is. Dr. Seuss’ Oh, the Places You’ll Go has shined on book pages for years and now it is getting its own movie on March 17, 2028.
According to Variety, Warner Bros. Pictures Animation will adapt Dr. Seuss’ Oh, the Places You’ll Go into a feature length movie with production from J.J. Abrams via Bad Robot. Jon M. Chu and Jill Culton will direct the film, which will include a few original songs. It will follow a young adventurer who goes through the joys and pains of life. I hope he’s too smart to go down any not-so-good street and will head straight out of town. It is indeed open out there in the wide-open air.
