Critical Role Campaign 4 is here. And a new campaign means a trove of new characters to get excited about. But, of course, when it comes to Dungeons & Dragons characters, it’s not just story that counts but ability scores and stats. As you probably know, in a game of Dungeons & Dragons, each character gets six ability scores: Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma. And these scores help determine how the roll of the die will go as characters attempt various actions in the game. Are they wise enough to defeat a foe? Charismatic enough to talk their way out of a situation? That’s where ability scores come in. Characters also receive hit points/HP (ability to sustain damage) and armor class/AC (how hard you are to hit). We don’t have full character sheets for our new Critical Role characters yet, but we have gotten a rundown of their six major Dungeons & Dragons attributes. So join us as we dive into the 13 new characters of Critical Role Campaign 4 and each one of their ability scores.
As a reminder, Strength = physical power, Dexterity = agility & coordination, Constitution = stamina & health, Intelligence = mental acuity, Wisdom = common sense & perception, and Charisma = personality & persuasiveness.
Halandil Fang’s Ability Scores in Critical Role Campaign 4 (Played by Liam O’Brien)
Liam O’Brien’s Critical Role Campaign 4 character, Halandil Fang, is an Orc Bard, which means he’s really a lover, not a fighter—and his ability scores reflect this. While Halandil’s Charisma score is sky high, his strength is pretty low… and he’s pretty easy to hit. We hope Halandil can stick to singing and avoid combat.

Thaisha Lloy’s Ability Scores in Critical Role Campaign 4 (Played by Aabria Iyengar)
Aabria Iyengar’s Critical Role Campaign 4 character, Thaisha Lloy, is a Level 3 Orc Druid. Druids are also not exactly known for their fighting prowess, so Thaisha Lloy’s AC is pretty low, and her Strength is as well. But Thaisha’s Wisdom and Charisma scores reveal that she is the smartest person in the room, and you’re going to want to hear what she has to say. She’s also a little hardier than Halandil, the father of her child, and we love that for her.

Alex Ward’s Critical Role Campaign 4 character Occtis Tachonis has ability scores that reflect his character well. There’s no strength in this anxious bunny, and his common sense, yeah… that’s low. But Occtis does have an intense intelligence that will certainly come in handy as Critical Role Campaign 4 continues. Basically, Occtis is an indoor nerd, god love him. Worth noting, Occtis Tachonis is a human wizard/necromancer.

Luis Carazo plays Azune Nayar in Critical Role Campaign 4, and this is one character whose ability scores absolutely reflect his story. Azune is a human Paladin/Sorcerer, a soldier who has trained for war from youth, who uses both his strength, his magic, and his resilience to get by. We can see Azune’s Strength is high and his HP is UP there. Azune is a character who can take a hit and keep on going.

Travis Willingham plays Teor Pridesire in Critical Role Campaign 4; a Lion-Man Paladin. Teor’s Critical Role Campaign 4 ability scores reflect his position as a soldier, one of the many in the ranks. He is strong, but not the strongest. He is wise, but not the wisest. He does have pretty good charisma and constitution, although his intelligence is on the lower end. However, notably, Teor can take a hit — look at that HP.

Sam Riegel’s Wicander Halovar comes to life in Critical Role Campaign 4. Poor Wick, he’s neither intelligent, nor strong, nor wise, although his charisma score is surprisingly high. When it comes to his HP and his AC… Yep, those ability scores are also very low for this Critical Role character. We recommend that the coddled noble avoid the battlefield if he can.

We love Whitney Moore’s Critical Role Campaign 4 character Tyranny and her ability scores. An 8 in Wisdom? Sounds about right to us. But a solid 20 in Charisma. And that makes sense because there is no character more lovable than Tyranny on Critical Role Campaign 4 so far. She has us sold on demon-kind.

Thimble is a pixie played by Laura Bailey. And so it makes total sense that this character’s ability scores skew toward Dexterity rather than her strength. Could there be anyone more dexterous than a tiny fae? But sadly, this four-inch creature could probably not take a hit.

Robbie Daymond’s Kattigan Vale has seen it all in Critical Role Campaign 4—and that’s why this character’s HP is so high. None of Kattigan’s ability scores skew low, which makes a lot of sense, he’s needed every strength he can to survive.

As a character, Bolaire is more of a socialite than a warrior, so it only makes sense that Charisma and Intelligence are king in these ability scores. Who is Bolaire exactly? We can’t say for sure. But their Fabulous score is off the charts.

Is Matt Mercer’s character, Sir Julien Davinos, very nice? No. But there’s no niceness score here. What this Critical Role Campaign 4 character’s ability scores DO reflect is that he’s not very wise OR very intelligent. HAH! He can, however, take a hit. Sir Julien Davinos’ Hit Points are higher than any other character’s resilience score. But probably, so are a cockroach’s. Okay, okay, we’ll stop hating. That’s Julien’s job! Hater Score: 500.

Interestingly, Murray’s Charisma is relatively low, although she seems to know her way around charming someone. But her intelligence is high, and we accept that.

Vaelus has strong Charisma, Wisdom, Constitution, and Strength. Her HP and AC are fairly high, too. Guess the other characters better hope she doesn’t want a fight.
