Macaulay Culkin’s Kids Have No Idea Kevin from HOME ALONE is Dad

No matter what else he has accomplished in his career, Macaulay Culkin has made peace with the fact that he will forever be Kevin McCallister from the Home Alone movies. And these days, he has a very healthy attitude about his iconic status in popular culture. He’s recently embarked on a speaking tour with a Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin, where, among other things, he talks about 35 years of Home Alone, a film the 45-year-old actor made when he was only ten. One very funny thing he did reveal was that his two kids, Carson, age 3, and Dakota, age 4, have no clue that Kevin from the films is their dear old dad. And this is even after playing them the movies several times. Here’s what he had to say, via People Magazine:

They have no idea that I’m Kevin. They’re only three and four years old. [I want] to keep up that illusion as long as possible. Yeah, I do really love watching that movie with my boys.

Recently, however, his four-year-old son Dakota has started to put two and two together. He’s channeling some Lois Lane energy, starting to suspect that Clark is really Superman. Culkin mentioned that he recently showed his son an old family photo of all seven of his brothers and sisters. He mentioned that his son “immediately looks at me and goes, ‘That kid looks like Kevin.’ A suspicion Culkin has yet to confirm. Apparently, Dakota also sometimes believes that he himself is Kevin. He elaborates on how he’s the one who set all the crazy traps and got into so much trouble. He also said that he and Dakota both copied a dance move that Kevin does in the film together. Which is maybe the cutest and most wholesome thing we’ve heard all week.
