In case you hadn’t yet figured it out, Ryan Gosling is probably the most in-demand actor in Hollywood at the moment. His most recent film, Project Hail Mary, is currently the highest grossing movie of 2026, not to mention our favorite so far. Gosling has another huge movie coming out next year in Star Wars: Starfighter. As you might expect, doing that requires a lot of time, especially with all the press obligations. So, ultimately, Mr. Gosling’s time is precious and, even though we reported just last week that he’d next star in the new mystery film from the Daniels, we can now report that he won’t. F*** us, I guess.
From Deadline (which we saw at AV Club), Gosling’s schedule for next year’s Starfighter press tour leaves him with just a sliver of time in which to appear in a new movie. Unfortunately, that sliver is too slivery. The inflexibility of scheduling meant Gosling cannot appear in the follow-up to 2022’s Everything Everywhere All At Once. However, given the fact that the filmmaking pair both named Dan won tons of Oscars only a couple of years ago, we’re pretty sure they’ll land another top-notch leading man.
Other than a comedy with Will Ferrell in pre-production, Gosling doesn’t have any upcoming projects after Starfighter on the books. But look, dude’s gonna work for the next 40 years easy. We still have no idea what the Daniels’ next movie is or even what it’s about. Their previous film to EEAAO, Swiss Army Man, was about Paul Dano befriending the magical farting corpse of Daniel Radcliffe. Really anything’s possible with those guys.
