In news that shouldn’t be shocking to any horror fan, HBO finally gave IT: Welcome to Derry a season two renewal. Before the show’s release, we knew that creators Andy and Barbara Muschietti had plans for a three season arc that would take us back in time to cycles where Pennywise the Clown terrorized Derry. Season 2 will go back to a previous cycle in 1935, where we will see the events that led to the Bradley Gang massacre.
The opening credits for IT: Welcome to Derry gave us the tiniest glimpse into that horror with bloody streets. Right now, there aren’t many details about what else will happen in season two. There is no casting news, but we can assume that we will see people like Lily’s mom Terri, a young Ingrid Kersch, and maybe even a younger Rose as well.
Of course, no one is happier about the season two renewal of IT: Welcome to Derry than the Muschiettis. “Continuing to explore and expand on the amazing world Stephen King created is an absolute privilege,” they said in a joint PR statement. “The support of our partners at HBO and Warner Bros. Television is priceless. Boy do we love our jobs!”

If you want to relive the first season all over again, you can stream it on HBO Max or own it forever in 4K UHD.
