VISIONQUEST Creator Wants to Do Fan-Fave YOUNG AVENGERS Story

VisionQuest is currently dropping new episodes on Disney+, and in our opinion, it successfully completes what we call the WandaVision trilogy. But as fans of Marvel Comics know, there is always more story to tell. And one of those stories is one long awaited by Marvel fans, Avengers: The Children’s Crusade. This story, published in 2010, features Wanda and Vision’s children, Wiccan and Speed, going on a quest to find their missing mother, who had been gone for years at this point. ScreenRant asked VisionQuest showrunner Terry Matalas about perhaps adapting this story in the future, and here’s what he said:

Look, that’s up to the Marvel guys. I would love nothing more than to do something like that. I would love that. As long as the rest of the family could come along, and that may include Ultron. Again, there’s nothing [in the works], but I would love it.

For the past five years, Marvel Studios has been slowly introducing the core Young Avengers characters. We have Cassie Lang, Kate Bishop, America Chavez, and even Patriot made a cameo in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. And, of course, we now have Wiccan and Speed, played by Joe Locke and Ruaridh Mollica. Ms. Marvel and Ironheart are technically members of the Champions. But it’s likely that the MCU will consolidate both young hero teams into one.

In the Children’s Crusade series, Billy and Tommy go searching for their long-missing mother, Wanda Maximoff. This is after she lost control of her powers, almost destroyed the Avengers, and created a false reality in the House of M series. WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness loosely adapted much of this. Her kids and their teammates find Wanda living without her memory, now mind-controlled by Doctor Doom. Ultimately, The Children’s Crusade leads to Wanda’s redemption and a reunion with the Vision.

Nerdist’s Take: The Children’s Crusade Could Finally Bring Young Avengers to the Screen, and Resolve the Wanda and Vision Story

We don’t foresee the Doctor Doom element coming into play in this potential adaptation. Mainly because they’re using him heavily in Doomsday and Secret Wars. But we could still see this storyline loosely adapted. Not only does Marvel Studios owe us a Young Avengers project after years of building up to it, but Wanda deserves a redemption arc. On top of that, she deserves a reunion with her long-lost children and her beloved Vision. Before Marvel’s mutant era, we feel this family saga needs to end in a way that’ll make everyone happy.
