Hugh Jackman Shines as a Neil Diamond Impersonator in SONG SUNG BLUE Trailer

There’s an old post about Hugh Jackman I think about every single time he’s in a new movie. Doesn’t matter if it’s an action, thriller, drama, musical, or any other genre. It’s a joke about how every time someone tells him to bring his “big ass muscles over here” to “punch this guy,” Mr. Wolverine quietly thinks to himself, “I just want to sing.” It’s the best because it feels so true. That’s why I’m always so happy when he gets to do exactly that, just like he will in his next film Song Sung Blue. He stars opposite Kate Hudson as a Neil Diamond impersonator interpreter. That might sound funny, but the film’s first trailer shows why this story is way more emotional than you might expect.

No, we didn’t expect a movie where Hugh Jackman plays a guy pretending to be Neil Diamond would be both heartbreaking an uplifting. But that’s the magic of movies, baby! This is a fun-yet-touching trailer that promises a story about never giving up full of love, hope, and pain.

And it’s all set to the music of Neil Diamond. Sung by a guy with a leaf blower in his face. Here’s the film’s official synopsis from Focus Features:

Based on a true story, two down-on-their-luck musicians form a joyous Neil Diamond tribute band, proving it’s never too late to find love and follow your dreams.

Song Sung Blue comes from writer-director Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow, Black Snake Moan). It also stars Michael Imperioli, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir, Hudson Hensley, Fisher Stevens, and Jim Belushi.

I hope Hugh Jackman doesn’t punch a single person in the film when it hits theaters on Christmas 2026. I know that’s what everybody else wants from him and his big ass muscles. But I like when he gets to loudly sing.
