Yes, a highly interactive pop-up experience is coming to New York City on March 7 & 8. LEGO’s Free NYC Star Wars SMART Play Experience Sends You on Iconic Adventures
Here’s what LEGO has to say about what you’ll experience in this free Star Wars SMART Play adventure in NYC. “Fans who come to the experience in New York’s Flatiron district must choose: Light Side or Dark Side? Each path winds through a different corner of the galaxy, sending fans to iconic LEGO Star Wars destinations, from the deserts of Tatooine to the corridors of the Death Star.” This experience will allow fans to get up close and personal with LEGO’s Star Wars sets.
Sounds pretty cool, but there’s more to the story… Of course, there’s swag.
This LEGO Star Wars SMART Play Pop-Up Experience Has Swag, Including Make and Take Lightsaber
LEGO teases about the free NYC SMART Play pop-up event, “Participants will also receive vouchers for exclusive collectible cards representing their Light Side or Dark Side allegiance or a Companion card, redeemable at the nearby LEGO Store in the Flatiron District. Fans will also be able to participate in a free make-and-take lightsaber set at the LEGO Store while supplies last, including a SMART Tag for use with your LEGO SMART Play Star Wars sets.”
We don’t know about you, but a make-and-take lightsaber set sounds pretty iconic to us—especially since it will come with a Star Wars SMART Tag… Especially since it’s free!

What If You’re Not in NYC? Lightsaber Make and Take Pop-Ups Are Coming to Participating Stores Across the US
While you can’t get the full free LEGO Star Wars SMART Play pop-up experience if you’re not in NYC, you CAN participate in the lightsaber make-and-take fun. Participating LEGO Stores across the US will be hosting these fun events to create lightsaber builds that you can’t make anywhere else.
The LEGO Group shares that you can build a Star Wars Lightsaber and take it home with you on Sunday, March 8th 2026, from 12-2 pm, and on Saturday, March 7th, 2026, from 12-2 pm at The LEGO Store at Garden State in Paramus, NJ, and at The LEGO Store at University Place in Orem, UT.
