THE BOYS Prepares for Its Final Battle in Bleak Season 5 Trailer

Everyone is at risk when a narcissistic, unhinged sociopath is in charge of the most powerful nation in the world. That was already obvious at the end of The Boys‘ fourth season. And yet things are, somehow, even worse than we expected going into the show’s fifth and final season. The newest trailer makes that clear. Not just because Homelander and his father Soldier Boy are going to team up, the “Freedom Camps,” or that Butcher is searching for the powerful Compound V ever made. It’s because despite how unbelievably bad everything is, The Deep still has his own podcast.

Bleak. Real bleak. The whole world is on the brink of all out war by an unchecked madman. Butcher is also determined to unleash the Supe-killing virus that would mean the death of his own friends and allies. But maybe not himself, as this promo teases his hunt for V1. It would seemingly make him immortal.

It’s not all bad, though. Hughie still has hope. This trailer also still features plenty of laughs and gore, which the season’s official synopsis captures in the most Boys way possible. From Prime Video:

In the fifth and final season, it’s Homelander’s world, completely subject to his erratic, egomaniacal whims. Hughie, Mother’s Milk, and Frenchie are imprisoned in a “Freedom Camp.”  Annie struggles to mount a resistance against the overwhelming Supe force. Kimiko is nowhere to be found. But when Butcher reappears, ready and willing to use a virus that will wipe all Supes off the map, he sets in motion a chain of events that will forever change the world and everyone in it.  It’s the climax, people. Big stuff’s gonna happen.

This teaser also gives us a look at some newcomers to the show. We see Daveed Diggs’s new Supe Oh-Father. Jansen Ackles’ Supernatural co-star Jared Padalecki also makes a brief appearance. And Kimiko’s voice is finally ready to be heard.

Plus, you know, the blood. And all the bad stuff. And we do mean bad. It’s one thing to put the worst person in the planet in charge of the United States. But to also let The Deep still do his dumb podcast? That’s montrous.

The Boys season five will debut with two at Prime Video on April 8, 2026.
