One of the best parts about playing The Legend of Zelda is the music. You can totally zen out while you’re traversing across Hyrule on your main mission or, if you’re like me, a chill side quest. And one of the most iconic scores for this franchise is undoubtedly Ocarina of Time, the 1998 release that changed the face of 3D gaming. To celebrate its awesomeness, Scarlet Moon Records is releasing Prescription for Sleep: Ocarina of Time, a jazz lullaby tribute to Koji Kondo’s The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time score.
You’ll be able to chill, relax, sleep, and study to those sweet sounds with this sweeping soundtrack. The music for this Ocarina of Time jazz offering comes from GENTLE LOVE, a duo of composer Norihiko Hibino on saxophone and AYAKI on piano. There are 11 arrangements that honor Hyrule and celebrate forty years of The Legend of Zelda. Here’s the track listing for Prescription for Sleep: Ocarina of Time:
1. Title Theme
2. Kokiri Forest
3. Battle
4. Hyrule Field Main Theme
5. Zelda’s Lullaby
6. Lon Lon Ranch ~ Epona
7. Kakariko Village
8. Lost Woods
9. Great Fairy’s Fountain
10. Temple of Time
11. Requiem of Spirit
12. Remembrance (Original)
“Ocarina of Time is one of those games whose music transcends the game itself,” reflects Scarlet Moon’s Jayson Napolitano. “I’ve been wanting to do a dedicated Zelda album since we launched the series, and it was really a question of which game. Ocarina of Time felt like the obvious choice — it’s the game that introduced so many people to orchestral game music, and Koji Kondo’s melodies are so beautifully suited to what GENTLE LOVE does. Hearing “Zelda’s Lullaby” and “Temple of Time” rendered in this style felt like a dream come true. Here’s to twelve years of the series, and we hope this is the album fans have been waiting for!”
