I’m not kidding when I say that after Andor, I don’t need to know anything about a Tony Gilroy project besides the fact that he’s involved. He produced it? Great. Story credit? Wonderful! He wrote it? Yes please and thank you. Directed? Hell freaking yeah. But having said all that, I’m certainly glad to still be getting trailers for his next movie, which he both wrote and directed, because while I still have no idea what Behemoth! starring Pedro Pascal is about, it looks incredible.
Some trailers try to sell you on plot, others on cast. What I love about the promotions for Behemoth!, which certainly features one of the best stars in Hollywood, is that it’s selling a feeling. It’s hard to tell what Behemoth! is about from this trailer. It’s as though this teaser also signed an NDA not to reveal what story the movie is really telling. But you still walk away from the trailer with a sense of Behemoth!‘s tone and how this story might make you feel.
It will have a story, though. And Searchlight Pictures has provided an actual synopsis to give us the most general idea of what that might be. Behemoth!‘s synopsis is below:
A gifted cellist returns home to Los Angeles after 20 years on the road. Music, which has been the constant, all-consuming river of his life, swells into an adventure that will change him forever.

In addition to Pascal, the film also stars Olivia Wilde, Eva Victor, Alexa Swinton, Kaya Ralls, Erik Griffin, Jobeth Williams, Margarita Levieva, Hank Azaria, and Will Arnett.
While Behemoth! won’t arrive in theaters until December 4, it did screen at the New York Film Festival earlier this month. Early reviews are positive. Not that I care. I am going to see whatever Tony Gilroy makes for the rest of my life. But I won’t complain if all of his future projects also get trailers as good as Behemoth!‘s.
